South Carolina's Donkey Debate Diatribe

After last night’s debate – which I did not need to watch since an hour of Joe Scarborough, Wolf Blitzer and/or Gwen Ifill broke down the game tape for me – there are some things that get under my skin that I can attest to John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, the above mentioned media talking heads and their cohorts, and even the man himself Senator Barack Obama.

• The good Senator from Illinois stood his ground, displayed some emotion, and did not allow any of Monica Lewinski’s ex-boyfriend’s wife’s comments sting too hard (see Renko comment for Walmart comment). However this defense comes at a steep price in my opinion. He comes across as a politician instead of the head of this sweeping movement for change.

• I also agree with Obama in his comment that the Republican party is the “party of ideas” and would like to take that thought one step further and say that not only is the GOP the party of ideas, but it is also the party of action. The problem with neocons is that they come up with ideas that they hold very dear and perceive to be the truth/the right doctrine, and what makes them dangerous is that they stick with their ideas and see it to fruition. Now take the democratic party of late (I am not in anyway talking about JFK or LBJ democrats) and check their stats (please do because I don’t know all of them) but Hillary’s health care crusade of 1992 has turned into 16 years of a nice headline, banner, and stump statement – but this uninsured American can attest that Hillary Clinton has not do sheeeeeet to help insure me. And the final current example of the lack of ideas paired with action is the current Congress and their lack of a backbone in stopping the war in Iraq. As a party it is not enough to merely come together on ideas, but a party needs to make a stand in its actions and make be vulnerable at times while defending the implementations of the party’s ideas.

• My beef with John Edwards is that he has been running unsuccessfully for president since 2003-2004 and wont go away like the infection that is plaguing my feral big toe on my left foot. He’s good for a well coiffed dew, a couple of sound bites, and for stealing 8-10% of caucuses/primary votes from Obama.

• Hillary is as cold as ice. She’s a great politician and that (as Peter Griffin would say) really grinds my gears. She can summon the tears and untie women in NH when she is on the ropes and then can switch into a cold hearted bitch this morning and tell America that her victories are clearly affecting the Senator from Illinois and that she is forcing a change in the views of his campaign. False. Narcissist. This woman is really alienating herself with the general election population (see me) with her and Monica’s ex-boyfriend morphing into a two headed Cerberus from Arkansas that is more of a modern American monarchy than the guard dog of the gates of hell … actually….

Well there is going to be lots more to develop and lots more game film for the morning, noon, and night talking heads to break down for us like Ron Jawarski and Sean Salisbury. And just like ESPN on Sundays at 11am, I’ll be watching with something to say.
